Bali Airport announces 15 flights cancelled due to Middle East conflict
“As of Monday afternoon, a total of 15 international flights have been canceled,” Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, the airport’s head of communication and legal affairs, said in a statement.
The cancellations comprise eight departures and seven arrivals over the past two days, underscoring how geopolitical risk is rippling through Asia-Pacific travel corridors reliant on Gulf transit points.
Departures scrapped on Feb. 28 included Etihad Airways flight EY477 from Denpasar (DPS) to Abu Dhabi (AUH), Emirates flight EK369 from Denpasar to Dubai (DXB), and Qatar Airways flight QR963 from Denpasar to Doha (DOH).
Further cancellations covered Emirates flight EK399 from Denpasar to Dubai and Qatar Airways flight QR961 from Denpasar to Doha, both scheduled for March 1.
Additional departures called off were Emirates flight EK369 on the Denpasar–Dubai route on Sunday, Etihad flight EY477 from Denpasar to Abu Dhabi on Sunday, and Emirates flight EK399 set for early Monday.
Airport data show the disruption also hit inbound services as several countries in the Middle East shut sections of their airspace.
Arrival cancellations included Etihad flight EY476 from Abu Dhabi to Denpasar, Emirates flight EK368 from Dubai to Denpasar, Emirates flight EK398 from Dubai to Denpasar, and Qatar Airways flight QR960 from Doha to Denpasar, all due Sunday.
On Monday, further arrivals were scrapped, including Qatar Airways flight QR961 from Doha and Emirates flights EK368 and EK398 from Dubai.
Management said it will continue monitoring Middle Eastern airspace conditions while coordinating with airlines and authorities to mitigate operational fallout.
“We are coordinating with AirNav Indonesia to monitor affected airspace and with security personnel to anticipate conditions at the airport,” Asmadi said.
Passengers have been handled according to individual airline policies, the airport said.
A help desk is operating on the second floor of the International Departures Terminal, and travelers can obtain updates via contact center 172.
The airport has also allocated parking stands for five aircraft from the three affected airlines to manage grounded planes.
