Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Legislation Body of the House of Representatives (Baleg DPR) has added five draft laws (RUU) to the 2026 Priority National Legislation Programme (Prolegnas). The addition is based on the results of a revision agreed upon after discussions with the government and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) RI in a working meeting at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday evening. “That is what we have agreed together, which we will of course read out in the upcoming plenary session,” said Bob Hasan, Chairman of Baleg DPR RI, who led the meeting. The five additions in question include, among others, the RUU on Housing and Settlement Areas. This RUU was originally a government initiative proposal, which has now been changed to a DPR initiative proposal. Next, the RUU on Broadcasting, the RUU on the Profession of Curator, and the RUU on Amendments to Law Number 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management, all three of which are DPR initiative bills. The other addition is the RUU on Auctions, which is a government initiative. This RUU has undergone a nomenclature change from the previous “Asset Auctions” to “Auctions”. In addition, during the meeting, Baleg also changed the nomenclature and status of several RUUs that were already included in the 2026 Priority Prolegnas list. These changes include, among others, the title of the RUU on Customary Law Communities being changed to the RUU on Indigenous Peoples. Meanwhile, the RUU on Narcotics and Psychotropics has been changed to a DPR initiative proposal. “The RUU on Narcotics and Psychotropics, which was originally a government initiative proposal, has become a DPR initiative proposal, yes, in the second amendment bill for the 2026 priorities,” said Bob. He further explained that the adjustment to the 2026 Priority Prolegnas list aims to ensure that the legislative work focus is more realistic and can be achieved to the maximum extent. “This step aims to resynchronise the direction of national legislation with the latest legal dynamics and urgent needs in society,” he said.
