The balé gong at Pura Desa Lan Puseh Banjar Nyuh Kuning, Desa Mas, Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali, collapsed on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, after being drenched by heavy rain and battered by strong winds.

The collapse occurred last night at 23:30 WITA and was only reported this morning at 07:30 WITA, according to Ubud Police Chief Kompol I Wayan Putra Antara in a statement on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

Antara said authorities attended the temple following reports. An investigation into the balé gong was conducted. The findings suggest the building’s foundation was likely fragile.

Debris from the balé gong was cleared in the wake of the collapse caused by the gusts. Fortunately, Pura Desa Lan Puseh Banjar Nyuh Kuning was empty at the time, so there were no casualties.

“There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident,” Antara said.

While there were no casualties, physical losses are estimated at Rp 300 million. The temple’s caretakers or temple administrators from the local community are still determining the date of the traditional ceremony.

Antara urged residents to remain vigilant for heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, and to ensure the condition of buildings. “We urge the public to stay alert to the potential of extreme weather, and to conduct regular checks of building conditions, particularly older structures, to prevent similar incidents,” he said.
