Baku-Sumi Bima Road Split by Landslide, Residents Urged to Stay Alert
The Baku-Sumi inter-district road in Lambu Subdistrict, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has split open due to a landslide. The Bima District Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has urged residents to exercise caution when passing through the area. “The Baku-Sumi inter-district road is severely damaged (cracked and split) due to a landslide,” said the Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of BPBD Bima Regency, Nurul Huda, to detikBali on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Nurul Huda explained that the landslide occurred after heavy rain hit on Tuesday (17/3/2026) night. This condition caused water from the mountain to seep in, making the soil particles lose their bonds. In addition, the road barrier irons are damaged. This has resulted in severe road damage and splitting. BPBD Bima Regency has installed advisory banners. “To prevent accidents, we ask residents to be alert,” hoped Nurul Huda. Furthermore, BPBD has coordinated with relevant technical agencies for further handling. The village government (pemdes) is also pressing for the road to be repaired as soon as possible. “The urgent need is for repairs and emergency handling so that residents’ access is not obstructed and disrupted,” explained Nurul Huda.
