The Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (BAKTI Kemkomdigi) is ready to support digital connectivity for priority programmes such as Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) and Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (Red and White Village Cooperatives), particularly in 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) areas. According to BAKTI Kemkomdigi President Director Fadhillah Mathar, the agency manages various infrastructure for 3T regions, including the Republic of Indonesia Satellite 1 (SATRIA 1), which is now ready to be used to ensure the success of these central government priority programmes. “The SATRIA 1 infrastructure, which currently reaches more than 31,000 service points, provides a strong foundation to support the development of People’s Schools, the digitalisation of educational services, and the strengthening of the village economic ecosystem, including the Red and White Village Cooperatives, especially in areas that do not yet have adequate internet access,” said the official, who is familiarly called Indah, on Thursday. Examining the latest reach of SATRIA 1, as of 5 June 2026, BAKTI recorded that 31,803 locations have been connected to the satellite’s digital connectivity. The remaining 399 points are services available for the tourism sector, business services, and public transport. Through its extensive reach in 3T areas, BAKTI is therefore ready to support the provision of digital connectivity for these government priority programmes. For regions already supported by digital infrastructure built by telecommunications operators, Indah stated that the supervision and provision of digital connectivity for the priority programmes are specifically handled by the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure at Kemkomdigi. The Koperasi Desa Merah Putih programme is an initiative targeted by President Prabowo Subianto to build the economy from the village level. The government aims to operationalise approximately 20,000 to 30,000 Red and White Village Cooperatives by August 2026. Meanwhile, the Sekolah Rakyat programme provides free education for children from the lowest economic groups at primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary school levels. As of June 2026, the Sekolah Rakyat programme has been implemented at 266 locations nationwide, with the existing number of students reaching 14,913.
