Jakarta (ANTARA) – Government Communication Bureau (Bakom) Chief Muhammad Qodari stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to France should be assessed based on the benefits and outcomes gained for Indonesia.

Qodari, in Jakarta on Sunday, said foreign visits should not be judged solely by frequency but by the impact on national interests.

‘Ultimately, the principle of benefit must also be considered,’ he said.

He made the remarks in response to claims that Prabowo’s multiple visits to France were a waste of state funds.

‘We are confident that what can be gained from the France visits is indeed substantial and significant,’ he added.

Since assuming the presidency of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo has visited France four times.

The first visit took place on 14 July 2025 to attend the Bastille Day military parade in Paris.

The third visit occurred on 14 April 2026 through a bilateral meeting between the two heads of state to discuss strengthening strategic cooperation in energy, education, digital communications, and long-term investment.

The fourth visit, held on 28 May 2026, resulted in four commercial agreements worth $3.5 billion US dollars, or approximately Rp61.25 trillion, to strengthen Indonesia-France bilateral relations.

The launch of the high-level business council was witnessed by Presidents Prabowo and Macron.
