Deputy I of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Fahd Pahdepie has said that collective awareness is one of the keys that the Indonesian nation must build to realise the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

According to Fahd in Jakarta on Sunday, Indonesia currently does not lack information, knowledge or skilled human resources.

However, the challenge faced is the absence of an agreement on the shared direction and goals to be achieved.

“The problem with this big ship is one thing: there is not a single coordinate point agreed upon for where this ship is heading,” Fahd said at the ‘Ideatalks: A New Hope Tuning the Frequency of Indonesia’s Future Map’ event at the Jakarta Convention Centre on Sunday.

He likened Indonesia to a large ship filled with great people with their own knowledge and skills, but without a single mutually agreed coordinate point.

“As long as we do not have collective awareness to reach the same coordinate point, Indonesia will remain the same,” he said.

Fahd said that society today is living in conditions where access to information is increasingly easy. Various knowledge about technology, artificial intelligence, parenting and even philosophy can be obtained easily.

However, the abundance of information does not automatically make people aware of their respective roles and responsibilities in achieving shared goals.

“This is our homework when we talk about 2045. As long as we remain in certain compartments and do not have collective awareness to reach the same coordinate point,” he said.

He added that discussions about Golden Indonesia 2045 cannot focus solely on physical development, technological progress or intellectual capacity.

Fahd also stressed the importance of building human capacity that encompasses mental, intellectual and spiritual aspects.

On that occasion, Fahd introduced the idea of ‘2045 Hertz’ as an illustration of the need to build a shared frequency in determining Indonesia’s future.

According to him, a common frequency is needed so that people can understand, support and help one another in achieving shared goals.

“2045 Hertz, the frequency of Indonesia’s future. Because if we do not tune that frequency, we will fall apart as a nation,” Fahd said.

Fahd is optimistic that Indonesia can achieve its envisioned future if society is able to set shared goals, build self-capacity and revive the values that connect people to one another.
