Bakom Asserts Civil Servant Reserve Component Training is Not an Attempt at Militarisation
“Not at all (militarisation). It depends on one’s perspective, as I mentioned earlier that the mandate exists within our constitution for national defence,” stated the Head of Bakom RI, M. Qodari, to journalists at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Friday (5/6/202<0xA0>6).
Qodari noted that Indonesia must possess greater resilience than other nations, given its status as a vast archipelagic state.
“Once again, we are a great nation; we are an archipelagic state, and we must possess greater resilience compared to other countries,” he said.
Qodari also highlighted the highly dynamic global situation, which he believes necessitates that Indonesia maintains various strategic scenarios.
“Indeed, we must have two or three scenarios—a Plan A and a Plan B. We have the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), but we must also have a reserve component. Especially in global situations and dynamics such as we see now, which are truly very dynamic and sometimes unpredictable,” he added.
Previously, the Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) completed the first wave of 2026 military basic training (Latsarmil) for the Civil Servant Reserve Component (Komcad) across various ministries and agencies. The training involved 1,758 civil servants from 49 ministries/agencies.
“The participants of the first wave of military basic training for the civil servant reserve component from 49 ministries/agencies for the 2026 fiscal year totalled 1,758 people, consisting of 1,292 men and 466 women. The training was conducted from 22 April to 5 June 2026,” reported Lieutenant General TNI Gabriel Lema, Head of the National Reserve Agency (Bacadnas) of the Ministry of Defence, during the closing ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Friday (5/6/2026).
