Bakamla ensures compliance with Constitutional Court ruling on redesigning duties
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakmalla) RI, Vice Admiral TNI Irvansyah, has ensured that his institution will comply with the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling regarding the redesign of duties, functions, and authority in maritime law enforcement.
He expressed gratitude for the Constitutional Court’s decision, noting that the ruling should trigger the accelerated drafting of legislation concerning maritime security. “If it is the order of the Constitutional Court, the order of the state, we are ready to implement it,” said Irvansyah at the parliamentary complex, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Currently, according to him, Bakamla is in the process of drafting the maritime security law. Following this ruling, the agency will adjust several provisions accordingly.
Previously, the Constitutional Court ordered the government and the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to redesign the duties, functions, and authority of Bakamla in maritime law enforcement within a maximum of two years. This mandate is contained in Decision Number 108/PUU-XXIV/2026, which was read during a plenary session at the Constitutional Court Building I, Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/9).
In the decision, the Constitutional Court partially granted the petition of Lukman Ladjoni, which challenged the material substance of Law Number 32 of 2014 concerning Maritime Affairs, specifically regarding Bakamla’s authority in maritime law enforcement. “The verdict grants the petitioner’s request in part,” stated the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Suhartoyo.
