Bailey Bridge Completed, Facilitating Heavy Equipment Mobilisation to People's School in Brebes

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed the installation of a 90-metre Bailey Bridge in Walahar Village, Larangan District, Brebes Regency, Central Java Province, to support the acceleration of Phase II construction of the People’s School (SR) in the area.

The completion of the Bailey Bridge facilitates smoother access for mobilising construction materials and heavy equipment to the SR construction site. Consequently, it is expected to support faster on-site work.

The construction of the Bailey Bridge follows directives from Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo to expedite infrastructure support for SR Phase II development in Brebes.

The implementation was carried out through collaboration between the Central Java–Special Region of Yogyakarta Main Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN) and the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure.

“The Ministry of PU continues to push for the acceleration of SR construction, including collaboration between organisational units, among others to address access limitations in mobilising construction materials. We will exert every effort to ensure that the People’s School construction for our children is completed on time, with the right quality, and the right cost,” said Dody on Thursday (14/5/2026).

Technically, the installed Bailey Bridge is 90 metres long, 4 metres wide, and has a load capacity of up to 25 tons.

This infrastructure is temporary but designed to support vehicle and material mobility during the construction process.

The bridge will support the mobilisation of construction materials and heavy equipment to the SR construction site.

This includes the mobilisation of more than 2,000 tons of steel frame structures as well as truck mixer traffic for concrete pouring work during the construction process.

SR Phase II in Brebes Regency is part of the government’s priority programme to expand educational access for children from low-income families.

Its construction is being accelerated to support operational readiness for the 2026 new academic year.

The Ministry of PU reaffirms its commitment to continue supporting priority infrastructure development through synergy between work units and all stakeholders so that the benefits of the development can be felt by the community as soon as possible.
