Tangerang – The Indonesian electric vehicle (EV) market is expected to grow more crowded in 2026. One of the new players preparing to widen its product line is BAIC, with the launch of two new electric models due this year. BAIC Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Dhani Yahya said the company has prepared two battery electric vehicle (BEV) models to be introduced to the domestic market. ‘This year there are two new models, both BEVs,’ Dhani said in Tangerang on 5 March 2026. ‘Hopefully there will be a media launch followed by media test drives or first drives, and deliveries to customers will begin at GIIAS,’ he added. The first model to arrive will be the Arcfox T1. The electric car is around 4.3 metres long with a range of about 420 km on a single charge. In this positioning, the Arcfox T1 will enter the EV segment currently occupied by popular models such as the BYD Dolphin and the Wuling Cloud EV. Additionally, BAIC is preparing a second model projected to become the backbone of the company’s sales in Indonesia, the BAIC X1 EV. BAIC plans to position this model competitively against the Wuling Air EV and BYD Atto 1, at around Rp 200 million. ‘Its length is approximately 4 metres (3.99 m) with a range of 380-400 km,’ he said. Dhani added that both EV models will be produced locally in Indonesia to take advantage of the various government EV incentives. With the strategy of launching two electric models simultaneously and with plans for local production, BAIC aims to strengthen its position in Indonesia’s increasingly competitive EV market.
