BAIC plans to launch two electric vehicles in Indonesia in 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Chinese car manufacturer BAIC plans to launch two electric vehicle (EV) models in Indonesia in 2026 as part of the company’s strategy to achieve almost threefold market growth this year. The company will also expand its sales network and strengthen after-sales service as part of its domestic expansion commitment. ‘We see a very positive momentum for BAIC in Indonesia, and with the support of competitive products and a dealer network that continues to expand, we are confident we can accelerate sales growth going forward,’ said BAIC Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Dhani Yahya. BAIC Indonesia targets sales of up to 2,018 vehicles in 2026, a jump of 198 percent from last year. One strategy to achieve this growth is to expand the product line into the electric vehicle segment by introducing two EV models simultaneously. For 2026, BAIC will launch the Arcfox T1 electric car, which is a mid-hatch EV product line, followed by the BAIC X1 in the small hatchback segment. BAIC plans to introduce more EV models in Indonesia in the coming years, including electric MPVs and SUVs next year. As part of this year’s growth strategy, BAIC will accelerate dealer network development by aiming to have 28 outlets nationwide by the end of 2026, with initial focus on strengthening the network in the Jabodetabek area. ‘In the future, we also have a broader vision to make Indonesia not only an important market for BAIC but also one of BAIC’s manufacturing bases and strategic hubs in the Southeast Asia region,’ Dhani Yahya said. In addition, BAIC will strengthen after-sales services through various customer protection programmes. These programmes include a vehicle warranty of up to five years, four years of free maintenance, availability of original spare parts across the dealer network with a fulfilment guarantee of up to 90 percent, and five years of free roadside assistance.
