Jakarta (ANTARA) - After launching a range of conventional and hybrid vehicles, BAIC has introduced its first electric car to the Indonesian market, the BAIC T1, simultaneously opening a pre-order programme starting on 9 July and running until the end of the month.

“The launch of the BAIC T1 marks the beginning of our long-term commitment to continue delivering innovation, building a complete new energy vehicle (NEV) portfolio, and providing mobility solutions relevant to the Indonesian people,” said Dhani Yahya, COO of PT JIO Distribusi Indonesia, the brand holder agent for BAIC in Indonesia, at a ceremony held in Tangerang on Thursday (9/7).

The BAIC T1 is a vehicle developed from BAIC Group’s premium sub-brand in China, Arcfox. In the Chinese market, the model is known as the Arcfox T1.

As a first step, the car will be marketed under a completely built-up import scheme before eventually being produced locally, with a target local content level of up to 60 per cent next year. BAIC is targeting sales of the car to reach 1,000 units by the end of this year.

Equipped with a 42.3 kWh battery, the car can travel up to 425 kilometres on a single full charge based on CLTC calculations. The car also supports fast-charging technology that can recharge the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in just 25 minutes.

The BAIC T1 also features Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing the vehicle to share power with other electric vehicles when needed. In addition, there is a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature with a capacity of up to 3,500 watts, enabling the vehicle to function as a portable power source for operating various electronic devices.

In terms of safety, the car is equipped with various modern driving assistance features supporting driving comfort and safety, including 12 types of ADAS.

The crossover hatchback has a spacious interior and is claimed to have the longest wheelbase in its class, at 2.77 metres, as well as a 2.34 square-metre sky roof that makes the cabin feel more roomy and bright. There is also a six-speaker audio system and noise reduction technology of up to 85 per cent, making the cabin even more comfortable.

Ahead of a wider introduction at GIIAS 2026 at the end of this month, BAIC Indonesia has opened the BAIC T1 pre-order programme with a number of exclusive benefits during the period of 9-30 July 2026. Buyers will also receive a six-year vehicle warranty, an eight-year battery warranty, and free servicing for four years.
