Bahrain, as chair of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) session, has reiterated the necessity for an immediate cessation of attacks against Gulf states as a critical step towards restoring security and preventing further escalation of the situation.

“We reiterate the need for an immediate stop to these attacks as an important measure to restore security and prevent further escalation of the situation,” according to a statement from the Bahraini Embassy in Jakarta, delivered during an Iftar gathering with the Indonesian press corps in Jakarta on Friday evening.

In the statement, Bahrain underscored the importance of maintaining security in the airspace and maritime routes, protecting regional waterways, preserving global supply chains, and ensuring the stability of international energy markets.

The stability of the Arabian Gulf region is not merely a regional concern but a fundamental pillar of global economic stability and maritime navigation.

Bahrain also commended Indonesia’s position regarding statements calling upon Iran to cease actions that contribute to increased regional tensions.

“We acknowledge and appreciate Indonesia’s responsible voice in the international community — a voice that advocates for moderation, dialogue, and respect for sovereignty,” the statement said.

The Gulf states also called upon the international community to condemn the aggression by adopting a firm stance to prevent recurrence of such attacks, as these violations endanger civilian lives and pose serious risks to regional and international peace and security.

The Gulf nations encourage dialogue, negotiations, and resolution of all disputes with Iran, the statement added.

“We reiterate the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in international relations as the sole path to overcome the current crisis and maintain regional security and the safety of its people,” the statement said.

“Escalation will undermine regional security and drag the region towards a dangerous direction with catastrophic consequences for international peace and security,” the Bahraini statement concluded.
