Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned an Iranian drone attack on the kingdom’s territory early on Saturday. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses Bahrain’s strong condemnation of the attack on its territory on Saturday, 27 June, in the early hours using several Iranian drones,” the ministry said in a statement cited by the official BNA news agency. The ministry stated that Iran bears responsibility for “undermining peace initiatives” through the attack. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday confirmed strikes on Iran in response to an alleged attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz the previous day. Following that, the Iranian military launched attacks on several US military facilities in the Middle East. On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched strikes on several targets in Iran, causing damage and killing civilians. Iran and the US subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding electronically on 18 June to halt the military conflict. The MoU provides a 60-day window for both parties to negotiate a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme and the lifting of US sanctions. The document also stipulates the lifting of the US maritime blockade against Iran and the restoration of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
