Bahlil's Office and Danantara Task Force Compile Plan to Accelerate Downstream Execution
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) conducted a coordination meeting with the Downstream Acceleration Task Force and the Danantara Investment Management Agency, among others, to discuss accelerating the execution of national downstreaming projects. The meeting took place at the ESDM Ministry office on Monday (4/5/2026).
ESDM Secretary General Ahmad Erani Yustika explained that the meeting aimed to follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s targets to ensure downstreaming projects do not stall at the ceremonial stage.
He stated that coordination is being carried out to oversee various technical changes occurring in each project on the ground.
“We are coordinating with Danantara, particularly for projects that have already undergone groundbreaking, intensifying the coordination so they can proceed according to plan. Because the President has set targets not just for groundbreaking, but for the factories to be built promptly and then start production,” he said when met at the ESDM Ministry building on Monday (4/5/2026).
During the meeting, the government discussed shifts in several project indicators upon entering the feasibility study (FS) stage. These adjustments include changes in location, production capacity, and investment value compared to the initial pre-feasibility study (Pra-FS) results.
“There are some projects where the location has shifted, or the investment value, or the intended production capacity. All of that must be clarified and reported jointly to the President,” he continued.
Such details, according to Erani, were discussed with Danantara as the investment executor at the end of the planning process.
“I don’t recall the exact figures, but matters like that need to be intensified in coordination, especially with Danantara,” he added.
To date, out of the 18 main Phase One projects proposed last year, 14 have officially undergone groundbreaking, with four projects remaining.
At the same time, the Downstream Acceleration Task Force is also finalising 13 proposed Phase Two downstreaming projects for prompt reporting of results to the President.
“So the first batch had 18, and now there are approximately 13 that have been reported to the President. But we are finalising them into pre-FS. Once the pre-FS is complete, we will hand them over to Danantara,” he concluded.
