Bahlil: We Pray for Our Brothers and Sisters Who Are Going Home to be Protected During Their Journey
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia prayed for mudik participants to remain safe during their journeys until they reach their hometowns. Bahlil made this statement while attending the implementation of the Joint Mudik Programme 2026 held in Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. “We pray for all our brothers and sisters undertaking the joint mudik programme to always be protected during their journey and to be able to celebrate Eid al-Fitr later,” Bahlil said, as quoted in a written statement on Wednesday, 18 March 2026. This programme is a collaboration between the ESDM sector and State-Owned Enterprises (BUMNs), including MIND ID, to facilitate the public in returning to their hometowns safely and comfortably. The programme provides a total of 28 buses and 4 ships to transport around 1,700 mudik participants from two departure points in Jakarta. A total of 756 mudik participants were transported using 15 buses from the Ministry of ESDM office in the ESDM Sector Joint Mudik programme. The departure of this group was witnessed directly by the President Director of MIND ID, Maroef Sjamsoeddin. Meanwhile, through the Comfortable Mudik with BUMN programme, 944 mudik participants were transported using 13 buses and 4 ships from the Main Stadium Gelora Bung Karno (GBK). This programme is part of the joint efforts of the government and BUMNs in supporting the smooth flow of mudik during Eid 2026. In addition to providing transportation, the organising committee also prepared various travel essentials to enhance the comfort and safety of mudik participants, such as t-shirts, hats, neck pillows, medicines, and meals during the journey. The Head of the BUMN Regulatory Agency, Dony Oskaria, stated that this free mudik programme is a tangible form of BUMNs’ care for the community. In addition to assisting mudik journeys, the programme is also expected to reduce traffic density during the Eid period. The Corporate Secretary of MIND ID, Pria Utama, added that this programme is part of the company’s social responsibility in providing direct benefits to the community. “Mudik should feel comfortable on the road and peaceful at heart. Through the synergy of the Ministry of ESDM and the BUMN Regulatory Agency, we ensure roadworthy vehicles, good departure procedures, and services,” he said.
