Bahlil Urges Public to Use LPG and Fuel Sparingly
JAKARTA - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has urged the public to conserve energy usage. This appeal comes in light of global energy distribution disruptions due to conflicts in the Middle East. Bahlil requested that society use energy prudently, adjusting the use of LPG and petroleum products to actual needs. “I implore and suggest that we must use energy wisely. For example, when cooking with LPG, once the food is cooked, don’t waste the stove,” Bahlil stated during a working visit in Karanganyar, Central Java, on Thursday (26/3/2026). “If, for example, one day it’s enough with 30 litres, 40 litres, that’s sufficient. No need for panic buying. There’s no need for that. So use it just enough,” he added. Bahlil highlighted the practice of buying large quantities of fuel for resale, describing this activity as detrimental and urging it to be stopped. “Don’t let there still be queues at petrol stations with trucks and vehicles. Whereas the contents are not for transport, but they queue up and then sell it again,” he said. Bahlil emphasised the importance of cooperation between the government and the public. The stability of energy supplies is seen as depending on the role of all parties. “The government cannot work alone, nor can the people work alone. All parties, all stakeholders, I invite everyone to jointly safeguard our country,” Bahlil said.
