Bahlil Urges Public to Use Fuel and LPG Wisely
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has assured that supplies of energy, both fuel oil (BBM) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), are in a safe condition.
Nevertheless, amid ongoing global geopolitical turbulence filled with uncertainty, particularly the war in the Middle East, Bahlil has urged the public to continue using energy wisely.
“The President has instructed me and the team to seek oil supplies from nearly all countries and to optimise energy sources in our country. Even if neighbouring countries in Asia enter an undesired emergency state, we assure you that our solar fuel, God willing, is not imported, so it’s clear. Petrol BBM is 50% imported, partly from domestic sources. For LPG, I am confident we are in a good condition, God willing,” stated Bahlil during a press conference after inspecting BBM supplies at the Bolon petrol station in Colomadu Subdistrict, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Thursday (26/3/2026).
“However, I need the support of the Indonesian people; this is everyone’s problem, so let’s use energy wisely. I don’t need to advise against it, but for example, when cooking with LPG, don’t be wasteful once the cooking is done. We ask for public assistance to use energy prudently. If we work together, God willing, our energy situation will improve,” he explained.
“Our oil reserves are still at the national standard level, both for solar and petrol,” he said.
He elaborated that the oil reserves in tanks are at a minimum of 21 days and will continue to be replenished daily. Meanwhile, oil sources from the Middle East will be replaced from other countries.
“I convey that we must use energy wisely. Please, petrol stations are not for industrial use. For example, 30-40 litres per day is sufficient; no need for panic buying, use it as needed. Petrol stations are not for queuing trucks to resell. We must all be wise in facing the global situation,” he stated.
“I appeal to my brothers and sisters, the hoarders, see this Mother Earth needs you to be wise; don’t do unnecessary things, don’t do it,” he urged those involved in hoarding BBM.
“The government cannot work alone; all parties must be involved. Let’s safeguard our country; we can bring in oil as we have done in the last few months for this situation. If the public is not wise, it means they don’t want to support,” he emphasised.
