Bahlil Urges Public to Save Gas: If Cooking with LPG, Don't Waste the Stove

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has urged the entire public to take steps to save energy in facing the fuel crisis stemming from the Middle East conflict. Bahlil exemplified the importance of the public saving gas when cooking. “I beg, I suggest that come on, we must use energy wisely. What is not necessary, I suggest not to. For example, say, if cooking with LPG, if the food is already cooked, don’t waste the stove,” Bahlil said in Colomadu in the YouTube broadcast of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, quoted Friday (27/3/2026). The Golkar Party Chairman asked the public to truly be wise in using energy commodities. With that, he continued, Indonesia’s energy supply will be better. “Because this we must really ask for the public’s help for us together to use energy wisely. If we can do this together, Insyaallah our energy in the future will be even better,” he said. In the same opportunity, Bahlil admitted he was ordered by President Prabowo Subianto to seek sources of oil supply after being affected by the crisis due to the Iran war with the US-Israel. He emphasised that the government will optimise the existing supplies domestically. “The President last night ordered me and the team to immediately seek our oil supplies from almost all countries. Then optimise all the energy we have,” he stated.
