Bahlil: The President Reaffirms Indonesia's Readiness to Face the Impacts of Global Conflict
President Prabowo Subianto convened former presidents and vice-presidents, as well as the chairs of political parties, to discuss the increasingly tense global geopolitical developments, including the escalation of the Iran–Israel conflict. In the meeting, the government said Indonesia was prepared to face potential global crises, especially in the energy and food sectors.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Golkar chairman, Bahlil Lahadalia, said after the meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, on Tuesday 3 March 2026, that the President explained various aspects related to geopolitics and Indonesia’s readiness to face all global dynamics, particularly in the context of energy and several other issues.
According to him, party leaders understood the steps prepared by Prabowo to anticipate the impact of global conflicts on Indonesia. The government is said to have prepared a number of scenarios to ensure national stability remains safeguarded.
“The principle is that we, the party leaders, fully understand the position taken by the President and the readiness of the steps to anticipate all of this, and we are working to ensure that global events can be anticipated to safeguard our country,” said Bahlil.
Similarly, Ahmad Muzammil Yusuf, President of PKS, stated that Prabowo outlined Indonesia’s readiness to face the global crisis. According to him, Prabowo’s invitation is part of an effort to unite the views of elite figures amid the warming global political situation. He revealed that in the near future Prabowo would convey his official views on the global situation.
“In essence, it is about how prepared we are to face the crisis; he explained our food security readiness, our energy security readiness. And for our elite dialogue, he invited these figures to unite the elites. He himself, God willing, will communicate his official stance to the public,” he said.
“I do not wish to prolong this, so I think Mr Prabowo will be able to explain it very well, but the talking points we discussed centred on BoP and Indonesia’s readiness to face the current heating up of global political situations,” he added.
Prabowo held a national discussion at the Merdeka Palace, inviting several figures including former presidents and vice-presidents. Among them were former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (the 10th and 12th), Boediono (the 11th), and Marul Amin (the 13th).
