Bahlil Summoned by Prabowo to Palace: Here's What Was Discussed

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto to the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/7/2026).

Bahlil said the meeting would cover several matters, including village electricity, mining governance and preparations for the inauguration of an electric vehicle (EV) battery plant.

“Today I am meeting with the President to discuss several matters relating to village electricity, then mining governance, and lastly the preparations for the inauguration of the CATL plant for the car battery ecosystem, which had its ground-breaking in 2021–2022,” Bahlil told reporters at the State Palace on Tuesday (28/7/2026).

“It is now complete and ready to go into production. This is part of the implementation of nickel downstreaming,” he continued.

Regarding village electricity, Bahlil said he would report on the number of villages that have been connected to power, out of the 11,000 villages recorded as still being without electricity.

“We will report because there were around 11,000 villages without electricity, and now around 1,400 have been completed and are ready to be officially inaugurated. So I will report this to the President,” he concluded.
