Bahlil Signals Adjustment to Pertamax Prices, Awaits Execution Timing
JAKARTA - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that discussions regarding the adjustment of prices for non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) such as the Pertamax series sold by Pertamina and other private fuel stations are nearly complete.
This follows the continued hold on prices for Pertamina’s non-subsidised BBM and those from private fuel stations in April, amid a surge in global oil prices that once reached $100 per barrel.
“We just need to see when the adjustment will be carried out, but my feeling, based on our meetings with Pertamina and private businesses, is that it’s almost done,” Bahlil said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jakarta on Friday (17/4/2026).
The adjustment of non-subsidised BBM prices is in line with Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022, which refers to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 11 of 2022.
“In accordance with the 2022 Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources regulation, non-subsidised BBM prices are based on market prices,” he said.
Previously, Pertamina’s fuel station business entities, Shell, Vivo, and BP decided to hold selling prices for BBM since early April 2026.
The discussions were held upon his arrival in Indonesia.
“Regarding the price adjustment for non-subsidised BBM, upon returning to Jakarta, we will conduct discussions while considering the existing dynamics,” Bahlil said in an online press conference from Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
According to him, amid the dynamics of rapidly fluctuating global oil prices, the government will continue to conduct more intensive studies to adjust policies in line with global developments.
“Mr President always pays attention to the interests of the people coming first. Especially for our less fortunate brothers and sisters, they must receive more attention, in order to formulate policies so that everything can run well,” Bahlil said.
