Jakarta (ANTARA) - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that subsidised petroleum prices will not rise until Eid al-Fitr 2026. He made the announcement ahead of a limited meeting (ratas) with the President to discuss national strategic issues, particularly in the energy and food sectors.

“For subsidised fuel prices, I can assure you that up to Eid al-Fitr there will be no price increase of any kind. Even if oil prices rise due to the Israel–United States–Iran conflict,” he said at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.

He said the government is currently focused on maintaining the stability of staple food supply, energy, including LPG, and various aspects of the national economy during the holy month of Ramadan.

Regarding global dynamics, Bahlil acknowledged geopolitical tensions between Iran and Israel, which also involve the United States, thus impacting global oil price fluctuations.

Nevertheless, Bahlil said that this situation will not affect subsidised fuel prices domestically until Eid al-Fitr.

Bahlil added that the government had previously held a meeting with the National Energy Council to anticipate energy needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr. The result is that stockpiles of subsidised fuel and LPG are assured to be secure.

“Our stock of fuel ahead of Eid al-Fitr, God willing, is all safe, including LPG,” he said.

For non-subsidised fuel, Bahlil explained that pricing is set according to the market mechanism under the applicable regulations, namely the 2022 ESDM Ministerial Regulation.

Under that scheme, Bahlil said, non-subsidised fuel prices can adjust in line with developments in global oil prices.

The government, he continued, is committed to maintaining the stability of energy supply and prices to ensure that people can observe Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr with peace of mind.
