Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia said President Prabowo Subianto would inaugurate the 2025 village electrification programme. The inauguration is likely to take place in Sulawesi in the near future.

“The 2025 programme will soon be inaugurated by the President; it will happen in the near future. Most likely, we will hold it in Sulawesi,” he told reporters after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (29 October 2026).

Bahlil said there were around 1,400 sites to be inaugurated by the President.

“So there are around 1,400, 13 sites that will be inaugurated soon,” he added.

He explained that the programme was part of the government’s efforts to provide electricity to 11,000 villages and hamlets across Indonesia that still lack access to power.

“We know that nearly 11,000 of our villages and hamlets still do not have electricity,” Bahlil said.

Bahlil also said that a vehicle-battery factory developed through a partnership between Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) was ready to be inaugurated soon.

“I reported to the President that the CATL-Antam battery factory, which the President broke ground on a year ago, is ready for inauguration. It will happen soon because the factory has already started production,” he said.

Bahlil said Indonesia now had three electric-vehicle battery factories: Hyundai’s factory, a plant recently inaugurated in Halmahera by a Chinese investor, and the CATL-Antam joint venture, which is due to be inaugurated soon.

“This means there are now three battery factories in Indonesia. One belongs to Hyundai, with an initial capacity of 10 giga; another was inaugurated recently in Halmahera and was developed by a Chinese investor. The third is the CATL partnership with Antam, which the President will inaugurate,” he said.

According to Bahlil, the three factories are part of Indonesia’s effort to develop an integrated electric-vehicle battery industry, from mineral mining and processing through to battery-cell production.
