Bahlil says political parties back Prabowo to anticipate the impact of the US-Israel war on Iran
JAKARTA — The chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, said that political parties back President Prabowo Subianto in anticipating the global geopolitical situation following the United States and Israel’s attack on Iran. The remarks were made after a meeting between Prabowo and former presidents and vice presidents, eminent diplomats, and party leaders on Tuesday evening (3 March 2025).
“Principally, we from political parties fully understand the position taken by the President and the readiness of steps to anticipate this situation,” Bahlil said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, quoted from Kompas TV.
Bahlil revealed that Prabowo set out the latest developments in geopolitics at the meeting.
“Prabowo, according to Bahlil, also outlined government anticipatory measures in addressing potential impacts of the conflict, particularly in relation to the energy sector and national stability.”
“The President explained various aspects relating to geopolitical developments and Indonesia’s readiness to face global dynamics, particularly in the context of energy and other issues,” Bahlil added.
“All of this is being done to push for anticipation of global events to safeguard our country,” the energy minister said.
In a separate instance, former Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda revealed that Prabowo is reportedly mapping Indonesia’s navigational approach amid the global situation after the US and Israel attacked Iran.
“The President outlined how we must navigate our lives not only around two reefs, but now several reefs, and it’s not easy,” Hassan said.
“The President provided a briefing update on the latest developments in the world, especially those that have long attracted attention among us, namely the most recent developments, specifically the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran,” Hassan said.
