Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the increase in the price of non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) types such as Pertamax Turbo follows the market mechanism in accordance with applicable regulations.

Speaking in Magelang on Saturday (18/4/2026), the government emphasised that price controls are only applied to subsidised BBM, while fuel for industrial needs and affluent groups adjusts to market prices.

Pertamax Turbo has risen from Rp13,100 per litre to Rp19,400 per litre, Dexlite from Rp14,200 per litre to Rp23,600 per litre, and Pertamina Dex from Rp14,500 per litre to Rp23,900 per litre.

Bahlil explained that, in accordance with the 2022 Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), high-octane BBM such as RON 98 or Pertamax Turbo is not included in the subsidised category. According to him, this type of fuel is generally used by consumers from affluent groups, so its price movements follow global market dynamics.

In addition to Pertamax Turbo, diesel fuel with a cetane number (CN) of 51 is also categorised as non-subsidised BBM intended for the industrial sector and users with higher economic capacity.

He further stated that regarding the potential for oil and gas exploration, the process still follows the applicable mechanisms. Exploration activities begin through the tender process for work areas or oil and gas blocks. After a company wins the tender, it can proceed to the exploration stage to determine the available resource potential. The government ensures that the entire process is carried out transparently and in accordance with regulations to maintain the sustainability of the national energy sector.

These BBM price changes can also be viewed in the MyPertamina application. On its official page, Pertamina states that the adjustment of general fuel oil (BBM) prices is carried out in accordance with the basic price formula in the calculation of the retail selling price for general types of gasoline and diesel fuel distributed through public fuelling stations.

This formula is in line with Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) ESDM No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022 as an amendment to Kepmen No. 62 K/12/MEM/2020.
