Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, who also serves as Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, said the government would continue to safeguard gas sales and purchase agreements between producers and buyers, including contracted gas exports.

Bahlil made the remarks to upstream oil and gas companies, or Production Sharing Contractors (KKKS), at the 2026 Upstream Oil and Gas Economic, Financial and Commercial Forum (FOREK Hulu Migas 2026) in Jakarta on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

“Regarding our contractual commitments, I have checked with Mr Doko, the head of SKK Migas. Our gas contracts for this year are clear, and so are the LNG contracts—including those for exports,” Bahlil said at the forum’s opening.

“I must apologise for 2025, when domestic demand exceeded expectations by 60 cargoes. As a result, some of them had to be rescheduled. But in 2026, we are carrying everything out,” he said.

“For 2027, I have instructed SKK Migas to make the necessary arrangements to protect the off-takers and markets covered by agreements signed with overseas parties, so that everything can proceed,” he said.

“God willing, everything will go ahead, so there is no problem and no need for concern. If there is an issue, we will discuss it properly. We should not make inappropriate statements outside. We will resolve matters in accordance with customary practice and the rules,” he said.
