President Prabowo Subianto has ordered that there must be no fuel shortages ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, known as Lebaran 2026. The order was disclosed by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia after a limited meeting (rapat terbatas) on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. ‘We must monitor all developments in readiness for Lebaran, especially in relation to energy; fuel (BBM) must not run short, and LPG as well,’ Bahlil said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta. This is because Indonesia’s fuel storage capacity can only hold reserves for 25 days. ‘That is why now the President’s directive is to promptly build storage. It’s not that we lack reserves to fill fuel, but where to store it,’ he said. ‘This is our deficiency, but there must be no finger-pointing. How do we fix this? By building storage, so that our reserves can last from one to three months,’ the Golkar Party chairman added. ‘For subsidised fuel prices, I assure there will be no increases until Lebaran. Even if oil prices rise due to conflicts involving Israel, the United States and Iran,’ he said. Meanwhile, Bahlil explained that the price of non-subsidised BBM will follow market mechanisms. ‘As for non-subsidised BBM, it indeed follows the market mechanism, in line with the 2022 regulation from the Ministry of Manpower (SDM),’ he noted. ‘Our fuel stocks ahead of Eid al-Fitr, God willing, will be safe, including LPG. So there is no need for doubt, even with global dynamics in Iran and Israel,’ Bahlil added.
