Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has presented a report on the condition of geological disasters in Indonesia, including volcanic activity.

According to Bahlil, through the Geological Agency under the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, the government continues to monitor the development of volcanic activity to ensure the situation remains safe, particularly ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday period.

Based on monitoring, he stated that there are currently no volcanoes in Indonesia at Level 4 (Critical Alert) status. However, there are two volcanoes at Level 3 (Alert) status.

“This is regarding volcanoes, so that during the Eid celebrations, God willing, it will be safe,” Bahlil said during a Full Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Bahlil then detailed that the two volcanoes at alert status are Mount Merapi on the Central Java–Yogyakarta border and Mount Semeru in East Java.

“Two volcanoes: Merapi and Semeru. Level 2, God willing, is safe unless God wills otherwise. Level 1 has 42 volcanoes, all of them safe. This concerns volcanic disasters,” Bahlil said.
