Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has asked Raffi Ahmad to help locate the creator of the viral song ‘MBG (Mas Bahlil Ganteng)’.

Bahlil stated he wishes to appreciate the songwriter for their creativity that has generated widespread discussion on social media.

The request was made during a farewell video posted on Instagram account @raffinagita1717 while both were performing Hajj.

“Hey Fi, don’t forget to find the person who created the ‘MBG (Mas Bahlil Ganteng)’ song. We should really appreciate it. I was surprised too. Please help me,” Bahlil said in the video on Saturday, May 30.

In the same post, Raffi mentioned he gained many life lessons and stories from Bahlil during their Hajj journey.

“I’ve learned a lot of advice and life stories from Kanda Bahlil; he’s incredible. As a Bandung kid from humble beginnings, I realise I’m nothing compared to him. His life story is truly motivating for young people,” Raffi said.

Raffi also stated in the post that the task of finding the song’s creator is ongoing.

“For the ‘MBG’ song creator, don’t forget, kakanda and adinda—don’t worry, it’s still being sought! According to Kakanda Bahlil, insya Allah, if found, they will be invited and given appreciation,” Raffi wrote.

Previously, Bahlil admitted curiosity about the person behind the viral song across various social media platforms, stating he wishes to meet the creator if they are willing.

“If the person is willing, I will invite them for a chat and meal. I’m curious. I’m on Hajj but hear the song every morning. Even my child laughs at me,” Bahlil said.

He added that social media creativity should be appreciated as long as it is used positively and not directed at sensitive issues like SARA (religion, race, ethnicity).

“I appreciate the creativity of people, the young generation, friends. But my suggestion is, in this democratic era, social media is important. However, it should be used judiciously. For example, don’t let it go into SARA matters,” he said.

Bahlil views netizen creativity as part of social media dynamics that public officials must accept.

“Therefore, creativity must be appreciated within the right framework. Yes, the risk of being a public official is accepting everything,” he said.

The song ‘MBG Mas Bahlil Ganteng’ has recently gone viral on social media and been used in various creator content. Investigations show the song was created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology with lyrics compiled from netizen comments about Bahlil.

One popular version was performed by influencer Sania Leonardo via @panggilakubambang, amassing tens of millions of views.

Meanwhile, TikTok account @VOKALIS_NETIZEN is reported to have been the first to upload the song, using netizen comments as lyrics.
