Bahlil Reports to Prabowo That Revenue from Coal and Other Commodities Has Risen
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia reported to President Prabowo Subianto that non-tax state revenue (PNBP) from coal had exceeded its target, even though domestic coal production was set lower than last year.
Bahlil presented the results for the energy and mineral resources sector at a plenary Cabinet meeting marking two years of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s leadership, at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (21 October 2026).
He said coal-sector PNBP had topped Rp160 trillion, against an initial target of Rp133.93 trillion in the state budget. The revenue target was exceeded thanks to strong export earnings from the national coal commodity.
“Thank God, we held a plenary Cabinet meeting today to mark two years of President Prabowo and Mr Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s leadership. I reported the energy and mineral resources sector’s performance: although coal production has fallen, we have exceeded our PNBP target,” Bahlil said, as quoted on Thursday (22 October 2026).
Coal export proceeds have also performed better than the government’s target. Against an initial target of US$27 billion, coal export earnings are projected to exceed US$30 billion.
“Our coal exports are exceeding the foreign-exchange target. We set it at US$27 billion, and it could reach more than US$30 billion,” Bahlil said.
Bahlil stressed that PNBP revenue of more than Rp160 trillion had made a significant contribution to the stability of state revenue from the energy sector.
