Bahlil Reports to Prabowo on Village Electrification and Mining Restructuring

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia met with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. Bahlil stated he would report on village electricity and mining restructuring. “Today I am meeting with the President to discuss several matters related to village electricity and mining restructuring,” Bahlil told reporters at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (28/7/2026). Bahlil noted there are 11,000 villages that still lack access to electricity. He said approximately 1,400 villages have now gained access and are ready to be inaugurated. “We will report that out of the 11,000 villages without electricity, around 1,400 have now been completed and are ready for inauguration. So I will report this to the President,” he stated. Bahlil also said he would report on the progress of the Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Limited (CATL) battery factory. He confirmed that construction of the plant is now complete. “The final point is the preparation for the inauguration of the CATL factory for the car battery ecosystem, which had its groundbreaking in 2025. It is now finished and ready to begin production. This is part of the implementation of nickel downstream processing,” he said.
