Bahlil Reports to Prabowo on Russia Mission: We Will Get Oil
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has reported to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto that Russia is ready to supply crude oil to Indonesia.
“Alhamdulillah, it is quite encouraging that we will receive crude oil supplies from Russia,” Bahlil stated at the Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Bahlil said Russia is prepared to supply crude oil to support Indonesia’s energy resilience.
Bahlil conveyed that amid global dynamics impacting the world’s oil supply, the government continues to seek supplies from various countries.
Following instructions from Prabowo, Bahlil is working to secure crude oil supplies for domestic needs until the end of the year.
“The President is always thinking about how to ensure our availability for one year remains in place. I am following up to secure crude for one year from this month until December, insyaallah it will be safe. So we don’t need to worry; we just need to increase production from our refineries,” he explained.
For the price of imported oil, for instance, the government is also striving to find the best prices.
“Clearly, we will try not to exceed the market price. A price below the market is much better, but at least equal to the market price,” Bahlil said.
Meanwhile, during his meeting with the Russian Minister of Energy in Moscow, Bahlil also explored LPG supplies.
“Insyaallah, we will also receive support, but this requires effort and communication in two or three stages (with Russia). But for the crude, I think it’s almost final,” Bahlil added.
