Bahlil Recalls Historical Discussions with Try Sutrisno During University Days
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia attended the funeral prayer procession and burial of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno. Bahlil stated that Try Sutrisno had made outstanding contributions to the nation.
“Today we have lost one of the finest sons of our nation, General Try Sutrisno. We know that the deceased dedicated himself to the nation and country throughout his life and provided the best contributions by serving as Commander of the Armed Forces (ABRI) and as vice president,” said Bahlil at the Grand Mosque of Sunda Kelapa, Central Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026).
Bahlil reminisced about Try Sutrisno as an individual with whom he could engage in discussion during his university years. He described Try Sutrisno as an authoritative figure.
“In our recollection, there were many historical discussions during university days, during which we came to know the late figure. He was a person who was very firm and authoritative,” he said.
It is worth noting that Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Hospital in Central Jakarta. Try Sutrisno died at the age of 90.
Try Sutrisno died at 06:58 Western Indonesia Time on Monday (2 March). Try Sutrisno’s body was buried at the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta.
