Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has provided the latest update on the condition of two Pertamina (Persero) oil tankers still detained in the Strait of Hormuz. Currently, the government is conducting intensive communications with Iranian authorities to allow the ships to exit promptly. “Intensive communications are being carried out regarding those two ships. Insya Allah, let’s pray it can be quick. There is a two-week pause from the escalation in the Middle East. Hopefully, it can be resolved quickly,” explained Bahlil during a press conference at the State Palace on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Bahlil emphasised that the two Pertamina tankers are carrying crude oil, not imported finished products such as fuel oil (BBM). “It’s just the crude, around 20%-25% (imports of oil from the Middle East),” Bahlil stated firmly. In any case, Bahlil noted, the government has already secured replacements for the Middle Eastern crude oil imports. The alternative countries include Angola, Africa, Nigeria, the United States (US), and several others. “So, Insya Allah, we are already clear,” Bahlil revealed.
