Bahlil Proposes Rp 815.56 Billion for Electric Stove Programme to Curb LPG Imports
Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has proposed a budget of Rp 815.56 billion in the 2027 Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) for an electric stove programme. The programme is intended to reduce Indonesia’s dependence on imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
“The energy we are pushing forward is not just about LPG, but electric stoves, CNG, and various others. The one we have designed (the electric stove programme) amounts to Rp 815.56 billion,” Bahlil said during a working meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XII at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (15/6/2026).
Bahlil explained that the electric stove programme is one of the government’s strategies to curb the persistently high dependency on imported LPG. To implement the programme, Bahlil requested that Commission XII, which oversees energy and mineral resources, identify regions that require electric stoves. “So we can cooperate and synchronise,” he said.
In addition to the electric stove programme, Bahlil also proposed a budget allocation of Rp 635.24 billion in the RAPBN 2027 for an electric motorcycle conversion programme. This budget will be managed by the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (Ditjen EBTKE) at the ESDM Ministry. Both programmes are new proposals in the RAPBN 2027, though the proposed allocations may be adjusted based on the government’s budget availability. The discourse on transitioning from LPG stoves to electric stoves previously circulated during the administration of President Joko Widodo.
