Jakarta (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia has instructed state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) to add to its fleet of fuel-carrying vessels serving East Java and Bali.

“I ordered them earlier to immediately double the number of vessels so that undesirable conditions do not occur in the regions, and to speed things up,” Bahlil said when met at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry office in Jakarta on Friday.

Bahlil, who also serves as energy and mineral resources minister, said he had received a report from Pertamina about distribution problems in East Java, Bali and several other areas. He said the difficulties were related to fuel-carrying vessels.

The Ombudsman will investigate the issue to ensure that fuel distribution, particularly of subsidised fuel, meets public needs.

Ombudsman member Abdul Ghoffar said initial information received on 13 October 2026 indicated problems with fuel services in 11 provinces: Bali, West Papua, Banten, West Kalimantan, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, West Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, South-East Sulawesi, Aceh and West Java.

In response to fuel shortages in Bali, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is taking various measures to speed up the restoration of fuel distribution services for residents of the province.

Kitty said the company was continuing to make the most of all available resources and intensifying coordination across its functions to restore fuel services in Bali as quickly as possible.
