Bahlil on Cabinet Reshuffle Rumours: We'll See
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has spoken out regarding the widely reported rumours of a reshuffle in the Merah Putih Cabinet, which President Prabowo Subianto is said to conduct today, Monday, 27 April 2026.
“Yes, we’ll just see,” Bahlil said after a meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta.
When asked if there was any discussion about the cabinet reshuffle with Prabowo, Bahlil did not give a definitive answer. He mentioned that some things must be conveyed to the media, and others not.
“There are things that must all be conveyed, there are things that don’t need to be conveyed,” he stated.
Previously, it was reported that President Prabowo Subianto would conduct a reshuffle of several ministers in the Merah Putih Cabinet on Monday, 27 April 2026. The Head of State is said to swear in several officials, from agency heads, ministers, and coordinating ministers (menko) in stages starting today.
Meanwhile, names of several figures trusted by Prabowo to fill important positions are circulating. Based on information, Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) M Qodari is reported to shift to become head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) of the Republic of Indonesia as well as presidential spokesperson.
Qodari’s position in KSP is said to be filled by former Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) General TNI (Ret.) Dudung Abdurachman, who currently serves as presidential special advisor for national defence.
Furthermore, former Head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, is reported to be sworn in by Prabowo as presidential special affairs for communication. Former Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding is also reported to re-enter the cabinet as head of the National Quarantine Agency.
Another name circulating is Chairman of the All-Indonesian Labour Confederation (KSPSI), who is also former National Agency for Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BNP2TKI) Jumhur Hidayat, reported to be sworn in as Minister of Environment to replace Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
Meanwhile, Hanif Faisol is reported to fill the position as deputy coordinating minister (wamenko) for food affairs.
Separately, Qodari affirmed that the reshuffle of the Merah Putih Cabinet is the prerogative of President Prabowo. He asked the public to wait for further developments from the Head of State.
