Jakarta — Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has reaffirmed that fuel oil stocks remain available throughout Indonesia, assuring the public there is no need for concern or panic purchasing of the commodity.

“National fuel oil supply is in a secure condition because production and distribution continue to operate to meet public needs in accordance with the government-established operational stock standards,” said Minister Bahlil, speaking during the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ Bukan Abuleke Podcast in Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

Bahlil explained that domestic fuel storage tank capacity is indeed limited. “Given the limited storage tank capacity for fuel oil that we have, our storage capacity does not exceed 25 days. Whilst current stock capacity stands at 23 days, this does not mean supplies will be depleted within 23 days. That is not the meaning. This is the storage capacity,” he clarified.

The Energy Minister reiterated that the figure representing 23 days of fuel oil stock does not mean supply will run out within 23 days. The figure merely indicates the capacity of stock held in storage tanks at any given time.

To clarify how the supply system operates, Bahlil provided a simple analogy. Fuel oil stock, he said, is like a water tank or reservoir that will automatically refill as its volume decreases.
