Jakarta — Cek Endra, a member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives Commission XII, expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to appoint Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia as Chair of the Energy Transition Task Force. He said the move demonstrates the government’s commitment to accelerating the national energy transition agenda in a more coordinated manner. The Energy Transition Task Force, he noted, is a critical step to strengthen cross-sector coordination in implementing the national energy transformation programme, covering both the development of new and renewable energy and energy efficiency. ‘We welcome President Prabowo’s decision to appoint the ESDM minister as Chair of the Energy Transition Task Force. The presence of the task force is expected to strengthen coordination in driving the implementation of the national energy transition programme in a phased and measurable way,’ he said in a written statement on Saturday, 7 March 2026. He added that the energy transition agenda not only concerns clean energy development but also relates to electricity infrastructure readiness, transformation of the transport sector, and strengthening the domestic energy industry. Cek Endra believes various programmes within the energy transition framework need careful preparation so that their implementation can be effective and deliver broad benefits to the public. ‘What matters is ensuring that each energy transition programme is implemented realistically and measurably, taking into account infrastructure readiness, support for the national industry, and the sustainability of energy supply for the public,’ he explained. He hopes that stronger coordination through the Energy Transition Task Force will enable government energy sector policies to run more synchronously, thereby strengthening national energy resilience while supporting sustainable development.
