Bahlil Lahadalia Tipped as Investment Minister Following Parliamentary Approval of New Ministry
Jakarta, IDN Times - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has yet to announce who will serve as Investment Minister following the House of Representatives' approval of the establishment of the Ministry of Investment. Nevertheless, several names have already been rumoured to fill the post. One of the strongest candidates is the Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia, who is said to be set to continue steering domestic investment efforts.
When asked for his response, Bahlil said: "I am an assistant to the president. Policy matters are the prerogative of the president. With all due respect, we are not in a position to comment on that. We are within the BKPM domain," Bahlil said during a virtual press conference on Monday (26/4/2021).
