Bahlil invites investors to utilise Indonesian islands for data centres

Tangerang, Banten (ANTARA) - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has invited investors to utilise Indonesia’s islands for the construction of data centres.

“Ladies and gentlemen, investors should not hesitate to build data centres in Indonesia. Our territory is the largest in the Southeast Asian region, and we have an abundance of islands,” Bahlil stated during the Electricity Connect 2026 event held in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Bahlil noted that Indonesia possesses significant energy potential to support data centre operations, citing potential from solar, hydro, geothermal, and wind energy, among others.

In addition to the advantages of vast territory and abundant energy resources, Bahlil stated that electricity production costs in Indonesia are certain to be far more competitive compared to other nations.

“We will provide various facilities and ease of business for all of you,” Bلقة Bahlil told the audience at Electricity Connect 2026.

One of the critical aspects of building data centres is the certainty of electricity supply to meet operational requirements. During the event, Bahlil ensured that there would be no issues in meeting the electricity needs of data centres.
