The speech of Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia was briefly interrupted by his aide during an event. Bahlil revealed he was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto. The moment occurred whilst Bahlil was delivering a welcoming speech at the Training of Trainers event for the Golkar Party Academy at the DPP Golkar office in West Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). Initially, Bahlil joked that his aide, who approached the podium, was ruining his speech. “You’re ruining my speech,” Bahlil quipped. Bahlil said he was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto after speaking with his aide. He then asked his aide to negotiate to postpone the meeting until 1.15 p.m. WIB. “Is it possible? Can it be at 1.15 p.m.? We’ve just started the speech, and now my train of thought is gone because of the President’s summons. Boss, negotiate first,” he said. Afterwards, Bahlil resumed his speech, which was related to the Training of Trainers event. A few moments later, his aide approached the podium again. Bahlil appeared pleased when it turned out his meeting with President Prabowo could be postponed. “It can? Okay, huh? Oh, you? Add more time then,” Bahlil said to his aide. Bahlil then described the moment as a lesson in the ‘art of managing’ the Golkar Party style. According to him, flexibility is a characteristic that distinguishes Golkar from other parties. “Now, this is the art of managing Golkar. Usually, others have to arrive on time, but we still can. This is the hallmark of a Golkar cadre and not a cadre of another party: flexible,” he added.
