Bahlil: Fuel Supply Sufficient for More Than 20 Days
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has again urged the public not to panic regarding the availability of fuel. Bahlil stated that domestic fuel supply is sufficient for the next 23 days.
“I’ve already mentioned several times in the media that our stock is in a safe condition. 23 days, there’s no need for panic buying,” said Bahlil following a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Panic buying of fuel has occurred in several regions including Jember, Medan, and Aceh. The public has reportedly rushed to purchase fuel following reports of potential supply disruptions due to global conflict in West Asia.
According to Bahlil, the fuel supply availability for more than 20 days reflects stock levels in storage tanks. Meanwhile, fuel production continues and is being distributed.
“But production continues, we keep producing and supplies keep coming in. Please, media colleagues, also convey accurate information,” said the Golkar Party chairman.
Two days earlier, Bahlil conveyed a similar message. He emphasised that the public should remain calm amid fluctuations in global oil prices due to war in the West Asia region. “I advise and request that there be no panic buying because our fuel stock is indeed adequate,” said Bahlil on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
The Golkar Party chairman claimed that the domestic fuel industry continues to operate while crude oil imports from abroad face no problems.
He assessed that the conflict between the United States-Israel and Iran has limited impact on domestic fuel stock. This is because, he said, Indonesia only imports crude oil from the region.
Bahlil noted that Indonesia has other fuel sources. “We import finished oil products from Southeast Asian countries and domestic production. So there’s no need for panic buying,” he said.
