Bahlil Formulates Non-Subsidised Fuel Prices with Private Sector and Pertamina

The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), is currently formulating a new formula regarding the pricing of non-subsidised fuel (BBM). The discussions involve various parties, including private enterprises and PT Pertamina (Persero), to find the most appropriate scheme amid the current economic conditions. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said that the government is still conducting intensive discussions on the mechanism for determining non-subsidised BBM prices, which have not been adjusted following the rise in global oil prices. “Regarding the pricing of non-subsidised BBM, we are currently holding discussions. These discussions naturally also involve other private entities,” Bahlil stated at the Ministry of ESDM on Monday (6/4/2026). “Up to now, we are arranging and seeking a good and prudent formula. Clearly, the government fully understands the conditions facing society today,” he added. Regarding who will bear the price difference resulting from holding non-subsidised BBM prices steady, Bahlil did not provide a definitive answer and asked the public to await the final results of the ongoing discussions. “Right now, we are conducting exercises. And once it’s finalised with the entrepreneurs and Pertamina, we will certainly announce it,” he emphasised.
