Bahlil ensures oil supply is secure, including from Russia

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has ensured that the availability of crude oil for national needs is in a secure condition, including supplies originating from Russia.

“I convey that the availability for our crude is, God willing, secure, including parts from Russia,” said Bahlil at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday.

However, Bahlil stated that he could not yet provide further explanation regarding the realisation of Russian crude oil imports for the second phase, including the volume and timing of implementation.

He mentioned that technical information regarding the crude oil supply from Russia would be communicated at the appropriate time.

“The other technical aspects from Russia, I will explain at the appropriate time,” he added.

The purchase of crude oil from Russia is part of a government-to-government (G-to-G) cooperation, which is subsequently continued at the government level with business entities, known as government-to-business (G-to-B).

Meeting national energy requirements is one of the government’s primary considerations in determining crude oil sources amidst global developments.

The need for foreign oil supplies persists as domestic production remains below target.

Data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources recorded national oil production on 8 September 2026 at 571,731 barrels per day, whereas the target for 2026 is 610,000 barrels per day.
