Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has denied claims that the relaxation of the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) for coal will impact coal supply to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN. He stressed that the government continues to prioritise domestic needs, particularly the electricity sector. He stated that the RKAB relaxation policy was formulated by considering the balance between national coal supply and demand. Therefore, the government ensures that the needs of PLN and domestic industries remain the top priority. “So let no one build a perception as if the RKAB affects PLN. The President Director of PLN has already conveyed this. Because we prioritise domestic needs, including other industries,” Bahlil said when met at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/7/2026). He assured that the government is implementing the RKAB relaxation in a measured manner. According to him, additional coal production is still directed at maintaining supply balance within the country before meeting the needs of other markets. President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo confirmed that coal supplies for power plants are almost entirely fulfilled. This confirmation simultaneously addresses concerns regarding coal availability following the government’s implementation of the coal RKAB relaxation.
