Bahlil Confirms No Increase in Subsidised Gas and Fuel Prices
Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that there will be no price increase for subsidised fuel oil (BBM) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). “Today, on the orders of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, as Minister of ESDM, subsidised BBM and subsidised LPG will not see any price increase,” said Minister Bahlil Lahadalia during the 18th National Conference of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandarlampung on Wednesday (10/6).
He explained that the government is currently formulating an economic management policy direction oriented towards the interests of the people and the state. “The Ministry of ESDM has been instructed by the President to create a state economic management policy direction based on natural resources, which must be oriented towards the interests of the community and the state to support welfare,” he said.
He detailed that this aligns with the government’s commitment to implement Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. “Referring to Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, particularly concerning mining, such as the Work Plan and Budget for the mining sector which will be reformed,” he added.
According to him, this is being done to prevent economic inequality within society. “This is actually in line with the spirit of HIPMI’s struggle; we want the direction of state policy to be able to boost the small to become medium, the medium to become large, and the large to become stronger. And this is the essence of collaboration,” he stated. Previously, during the 18th HIPMI National Conference in Bandarlampung, President Prabowo Subianto affirmed the government’s commitment to implementing the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution to address economic inequality in society, and that the management of existing resource wealth must be managed independently to improve public welfare.
