Bahlil Assures Subsidised Fuel is Secure: Prices Will Not Rise, Insha'Allah Forever
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has assured that stocks of fuel oil (BBM) and LPG are secure. In line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto, he emphasised that there will be no price increases for BBM. “It’s secure. I convey to the public that, insha’Allah, our stocks are above the minimum standard, whether diesel, petrol, or LPG. Insha’Allah, it’s secure,” Bahlil stated to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026). Bahlil also stressed that the decision not to raise BBM prices has been agreed upon by the government, at least until the end of the year. He is even optimistic that the policy can be maintained in the long term. “And once again, I say that we have agreed, based on the President’s directive, that subsidised BBM prices will not be raised until the end of the year, insha’Allah forever—please pray for it,” he continued. Furthermore, Bahlil explained that the situation still depends on the movement of Indonesia’s crude oil price or Indonesian Crude Price (ICP). However, as long as the ICP remains in a safe range, namely below USD 100 per barrel, the state budget can still support energy subsidies. “This depends on the ICP price. But if it reaches USD 100, that’s already safe for the state budget. And the average ICP price from January until now is no more than USD 77,” he said. “So, we’ve only split USD 7, so don’t let anyone think where our money comes from; we’ve only risen USD 7 until now as I’m speaking. Thank you,” Bahlil added.
